A Study of Form and Texture
In our introduction to Study, we collaborated with Bruno Canales, founder of visual lab Crea Studio, to explore a series of 3D materials using Study as our form. An image he created had often showed up in our treatments and moodboards, and it was time for us to get to know the artist behind the work. What ensued was a visual playground. The hard part? Culling it down to the five which would make the cut in our launch asset.

A Study of Typography
Honey is the product of our first foray into typeface design. Type design is an intimidating world, so we felt starting with a display face would be a fun (and easier) entry point.
Much like the honeysuckle flower, Honey has a striking appearance that alludes to its tubular shape before the flower blooms. Once bloomed the petals open to reveal soft curved petals and spike-like filaments. This typeface uses simple forms with experimentation in thick and thin points and unique approaches to how letterforms are drawn.
This is an experimental demo as a free, open source font. It isn’t perfect, but neither are we… and we like that.

Special thanks to Josh Warner for giving us some solid insight into the world of typography design.

A Study of Distortion
Next, we delve into a medium native to our day to day work, but look at it through the lens of distortion. We play with morphs, blurs and grids through both camera play on set, and treatments we brought into our post production process.

A Study of Templates
As any creative knows, mock ups are the foundation of projects new and complete — from pitching sleek new design ideas to buttoning up finished projects in your portfolio. As a studio focused on both content and design, we wanted to create templates that felt grounded in reality, while using sustainable materials as our medium
These six templates are completely free, and yours to enjoy.

A Study of CGI
A medium we had never played in before was CGI, yet we so often find ourselves inspired by references of immersive, 3D worlds that embody a sense of playful transportation. We wanted to explore it’s execution across both still and motion, experiencing the varied complexity and considerations within both.
Motion
In this creative, we focus on a short video concept that celebrates the subtle joy in the unknown. The underlying concept of transportation from the everyday into a world of play is our foundation, using skateboarding and surrealist materials as our medium.
The outcome of this world creation is not so distant from the ideas we had at day one, yet something entirely unexpected and eye opening.

Stills
Still imagery captured in a clean studio setting is then blended into 3D environments, plussed up with subtle animations. In the first world we delve into a desert, plush with sea creatures. Second, a galactic landscape and third, a crystal cave. Reality need not exist here.
